What are the most important considerations while choosing a filter cloth?

How to select the correct filter cloth?

Resistance of filter cloth to fowling or blinding
Ease of filter cake discharge
Chemical attack resistance
Thermal quality
Resistance to abrasion
Particle retention
Choice of yarn fibre fibre material

Permeability
Weave pattern
The above factors, among other are crucial to an efficient cycle time and service life of the filter cloth.
How to clean a filter cloth?
The most efficient method to clean the filter cloth is without removing it from the filter press and clean it while it is still installed on the plates of the filter press. During the clean, one must also ensure that the cleaning solution does not splash outside from between the filter plates, when the cleaning cycle is on. For this you can have the filter plates installed with O ring seals or the CGR plates. For cleaning purposes, a cleaning solution made of 5%solution of hydrochloric / muriatic acid with non-ionic detergent would be optimal for filter cloth. Alternatively subject t to the containment being removed, similar caustic cleaning solutions can be put to use for cleaning of filter cloth. In industrial filter press, it is not recommended to dry the cloths, even otherwise, mostly filter cloths have little or no moisture regain, thus not requiring any industrial drying.
